dr. Dre has officially stated that he is ‘legally single’ in a bitter breakup with Nicole Young… as the mogul prepares to battle with his ex-wife over ‘cast-iron prenuptial agreement’

dr. Dre, 56, is one step closer to closing the chapter on his marriage to ex-wife Nicole Young.

The judge in Dre’s divorce officially declared him legally single, months after the mogul said in court documents that the marriage had reached the “point of no return,” according to TMZ on Thursday.

Now the estranged couple will have to battle it out over an allegedly “iron marriage contract” and the rights to his trademark and billion-dollar empire.

In March, the rapper’s attorney, Laura Wasser, filed court documents requesting “a split from Dre’s divorce,” in which he and ex Nicole Young would both declare “single.”

According to TMZ, that request has been granted and Dre (Andre Romelle Young) is “officially divorced” in the eyes of the law.

However, the couple’s messy split isn’t over and it will be a long road for the hip-hop icon before things are completely wrapped up.

As DailyMail.com previously reported, Dre and Nicole are disputing their prenuptial agreement — signed shortly before their 1996 wedding — she wants it voided while claiming it’s rock solid.

Split: In March, the rapper’s attorney, Laura Wasser, filed court documents “applying for a split of Dre’s divorce,” in which he and ex Nicole Young would both declare “single.”

When Dre asked the court to declare him single, he noted in court documents that Nicole’s “false allegations of domestic violence” made their relationship irreparable.

He also claimed that he had “been trying to sort out the divorce with Nicole since June 2020”, but claimed she was “dragging her feet” on purpose.

Since Nicole filed for divorce last June, their split has become increasingly controversial.

In October, Dre accused his wife of criminal behavior by “embezzling” more than $350,000 from one of their bank accounts.

Nicole sued the NWA rapper separately in an attempt to lay claim to his estimated multi-billion dollar empire, but in April the judge in that case reassigned the case to family court, where it was combined with their divorce case.

In that lawsuit, Nicole accused her husband of transferring trademark rights to his “Dr. Dre’s name and his triple platinum album, The Chronic, to a company owned solely by him.

Nicole had claimed in court documents that she owned half of the trademarks and that their earnings and transfer of ownership took place without her “knowledge or consent.”

But Dre fought back, insisting she had no such claim—since he named Dr. Dre has been using it since the 1980s and his debut album was released in 1992, four years before he married her.

Earlier this year, DailyMail.com revealed that Nicole has filed court documents accusing Dre of violent and emotional abuse during their 24-year marriage.

The music mogul held a gun to her head, punched her in the face and slammed her against a wall, lifting her by the neck from her feet, she said.

Shortly after her damning statement in court, Nicole’s lawyers huddled with Dr. Dre and the end result was that Dre – reportedly still in his hospital bed after a brain aneurysm – signed an agreement to pay Nicole a lump sum of $2 million in temporary support.
