DR Congo star PUNCHES opponent in the face as clash with Morocco descends into chaos… as player on the receiving end blasts attacker for crossing ‘lines which must never be crossed’

DR Congo star Ruth Kipoyi angered football fans after she punched a Moroccan player in the face.

The incident occurred during the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s friendly with Morocco on Monday, June 3.

With the score 2-1 in favor of the Moroccans, the 26-year-old received a red card for an aggressive tackle.

This angered several opposition players enough to get involved causing a melee between the two teams.

Yasmine Mrabet decided to try to calm Kipoyi, but the Galatasaray attacker launched a left hook to her jaw that sent her to the grass.

A video of the incident has been circulating on social media and fans are furious with Kipoyi.

Some people are calling for serious punishments, with one X (formerly Twitter) user saying: “It should be prison time for assault.”

Another fan did not feel so strongly, but still did not hide his anger: ‘It’s not a lifetime suspension, but it is a long one. Along with a hefty fine.

Morocco won the match 3-2 and after the final whistle, Mrabet, the player hit by Kipoyi, issued a statement. via Instagramin relation to the incident.

She said: ‘This violent behavior should not be accepted. During the competition, disagreements may arise, tensions are likely to arise, but there are lines that should never be crossed…

‘This incident should not overshadow the exponential growth of our football in recent years. African teams are appearing on the world stage, and for a reason.

“Appropriate procedures are being carried out to report past events and from now on I just look forward.”
