Dr Chris Brown has revealed the surprising reason why dogs often hit things around the house.
The 45-year-old celebrity veterinarian shared a video on TikTok on Thursday, explaining that it has nothing to do with domination or a sexual act.
He said the most common reason a dog starts fucking is to get its owner’s attention.
“This is perhaps the most misunderstood behavior of all dogs because it is almost never about dominance or sexuality,” he said.
“It’s always hard to ignore and that’s the important point.”

“Because when you’re at home and the TV has your parents’ attention, that’s the only guaranteed way to get it back and it works every time,” he added.
Sydney dog trainer Jac Tarrant has also previously said that dogs don’t hump because they want to have sex, but because they are too horny.
She told followers of her dog training business, The Dog Nose, that humping was “a behavior that dogs exhibit when they’re brain farting and don’t know how to get their hyper excitement out.”
“It’s kind of like when a child gets overstimulated and goes completely wild,” she said.
The trainer shared a video of his own dog, Primrose, mounting his adopted brother PJ while the two played.
She pointed out that her dog was female, and said this proved once again that the action had no sexual connotation.

“Prim is a girl, but fucking is not generally sexual behavior,” she said. “As mentioned above, this is most often a sign that your dog is too excited and doesn’t know how to handle this emotion.”
Jac said she used treats and distraction techniques to separate the two and explained that dogs should never be punished for fucking as it would only reinforce the behavior.
To help prevent further episodes of humping, Jac recommended examining what might be causing the dog’s stress and teaching the dog calm behaviors – first in calm environments, then in situations where the animal would normally become more excited.
