Roberto Ocampo, 21, is believed to be behind the wheel of a white sedan as part of an illegal street race, which accelerated Sepulveda Boulevard on Friday night around 10:30 PM when one of them hit 22-year-old Neri Ramirez Chalo.
According to surveillance footage, Chalo seemed to have seen the two white cars when he crossed the road.

Chalo had almost reached the other side of the street when the two cars came running down
He was fatally hit by the second of two white cars that were driving on the road
He almost made it but started running in an attempt to prevent a collision.
He managed to prevent him from being hit by one car, but was fatally hit by the second one who drove around 40 km / h. Both drivers have fled the scene.
Chalo, who lived in Van Nuys, was declared dead shortly thereafter.
Surveillance images then show another 30 cars beyond Chalo's body before a driver decides to stop and seek help, according to ABC news.
You can even see several drivers driving slower or changing lanes.
It is believed that Roberto Ocampo from the North Hills region was the driver who hit Chalo and sent his body a few meters off the road.

Ocampo later fled the area, but his white Infiniti G37, discovered close to the crash scene, had damage similar to the collision, according to LAPD detective Josh Wade.
& # 39; We truly believe he was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision, & # 39; said Wade.
& # 39; The force of the collision pushed Chalo down the road, after which he settled down, & # 39; Wade explained.
& # 39; We want his side of the story. We want to know what his involvement was that night of the accident, & Wade continued.
& # 39; These situations are completely tragic and we can only urge Roberto to come forward and make a statement about the night of the accident, & # 39; he said.
LAPD investigator Josh Wade says he believed Ocampo's family is helping him avoid the police
About 30 cars passed Chalo's body before a driver decided to get help
& # 39; The longer he takes to turn himself in, the more stress he puts on himself, the more stress he puts on the family of this poor victim. & # 39;
The detective said that Ocampo was probably helped by family or friends to evade the police.
Authorities have already been in contact with the 21-year-old's family and have encouraged Ocampo's parents to encourage him to sign up as a driver.
A reward of up to $ 50,000 is offered for tips that lead to an arrest or conviction in the case.
