Downton Abbey’s Amy Nuttall releases new single Thank You Mother in memory of her mother who died from a brain tumor

Downton Abbey star Amy Nuttall has released a new single in memory of her late mother Elaine.

The actress, 41, who played Ethel Parkins in the ITV series, recorded Thank You Mother after her mother died in 2023 from a glioblastoma brain tumor.

Released in time for Mother’s Day, Amy will perform Thank You Mother at The Smiley Charity Film Awards 2024 on March 20.

Amy, who previously starred in Emmerdale, has teamed up with The Brain Tumor Charity to raise vital awareness for the charity.

The song is a tribute to Amy’s mother after Amy became her full-time caregiver alongside her sister and father.

The song has great meaning for Amy and her family, as it was played for her mother in her final days.

Speaking about the release, he said: “Hearing the song after all these years planted the seed that I had to record it and it seemed like a good idea to focus my energy on raising awareness about the disease.”

‘I feel very lucky to be able to use my platform to do this and all proceeds will go to the wonderful charity The Brain Tumor Charity. I hope others find comfort in the beautiful words of this song.’

Brain Tumor Charity said: “We are honored as a charity to have the support of Amy Nuttall. We hope music will help families connect and bring joy.

“We are the UK’s largest brain tumor charity, we are committed to fighting brain tumors on all fronts and we are delighted to support Amy.”

Amy posted a heartfelt tribute to her mother in November, writing: ‘My heart is pounding as I write this. Yesterday I said goodbye to my beautiful and dear mom. In July she was diagnosed with glioblastoma (grade 4).

‘To say it was the biggest surprise would be an understatement. Along with my wonderful family, we helped care for her until the end, where she died in my arms as I lay next to her on 10/30/23 at 5:05 pm

‘She humbled us all by how she handled this cruel diagnosis… never complaining, always smiling and bringing out her silly humor every day.

Amy posted a heartfelt tribute to her mother in November after her passing.

Amy played maid Ethel Parkins on Downton Abbey.

‘Mom, you were my rock. Always. My best friend. I’m not sure how I will live life without you, but I know that you will always be with me to help me like you always did. Thank you mom… you gave me the best days I’ve ever had.’
