Doval, angry, throws cooler in dugout after bad outing against Angels originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Despite the Giants’ dominant victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday at Oracle Park, it wasn’t a good game for closer Camilo Doval.

After allowing four earned runs during the ninth inning of the San Francisco game final victory 13-6Doval vented his frustrations in a cooler in the Giants’ dugout.

Doval, who had not pitched since San Francisco’s 5-3 victory over the Houston Astros last Wednesday, entered the ninth inning looking to end the game with a 13-2 lead.

Instead, Doval allowed four hits and walked two while recording just one out as the Angels began mounting what would have been an incredible comeback. Giants manager Bob Melvin replaced Doval with Ryan Walker four runs later, who struck out the final two batters to secure San Francisco’s victory.

After the hard exit, Doval’s ERA jumped from 3.62 to 4.88, and his anger seemed to be at an all-time high.
