Doritos Australia has announced the launch of its bold new flavour: Coffee.

Described by the chip makers as “the perfect pick-me-up to combat the 3 p.m. slump,” the flavor announced Wednesday is sure to catch the attention of fans.

This treat combines the delicious aromatic flavour of coffee with the characteristic crunch of Doritos, but has already caused a sensation among those who have tried it.

Several intrigued Australians who managed to get their hands on the chips early on shared their honest opinion, with many disapproving.

“Yuck! Yuck, sorry Doritos,” said one woman after scrunching up her face. She gave the limited-edition flavor a zero out of ten.

“What is that? It’s not even a one (out of ten). It’s horrible. Coffee? Why?” said one man after trying the French fry for the first time.

“Honestly, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever tasted. It tastes like cardboard with spilled coffee on it,” she said after her second fry.

A third screwed up her face and said: “Not for me.”

Most tasters gave the snack a two, but a few announced that it “deserves a seven.”

A select few did not dislike the sweet taste of the coffee that much, but were unsure whether they would buy it.

“Wow, that’s kind of sweet,” one woman said.

“It’s not that bad. I’d give it a seven, but I’d eat anything,” another man added.

The latest offer is not available for purchase – Australians will need to win a package.

Doritos is giving away 25 packs daily at 3 p.m. and fans will have the chance to win through a drawing on the Doritos Instagram page.

Kat Miller, Senior Brand Manager at Doritos, said: ‘Every afternoon, people across the country are disappointed that their favourite coffee shop closes just when they need an afternoon pick-me-up.

‘That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of Doritos Coffee – the perfect snack to help Aussies get through the 3pm slump.

We know Australians crave that extra cup of coffee in the afternoon, and we can’t wait to see the reactions of chip lovers and coffee aficionados across the country when they try the first batch of Doritos Coffee.

The latest addition follows the launch of Doritos Coriander in 2023, which sparked debate and controversy across Australia for its soapy taste.
