A lucky teen is $20,000 richer after finding a swollen Doritos chip and posting the ‘ultra rare’ find on eBay.
Gold Coast student Rylee Stuart, 13, made national headlines after a clip showing the air-filled, flavored cheese supreme chip went viral on TikTok.
The savvy teen quickly put the unusual chip on eBay and was inundated with bids of up to $100,000 before the auction was taken off the site.
While Mrs. Stuart is unlikely to receive a dime from eBay, Doritos decided to award the girl $20,000 for her “daring entrepreneurship” and “ingenuity.”
Her eBay listing drew bids of up to 20,000 in just a few days, eventually escalating to $100,000 before knocking the auction down

Doritos Chief Marketing Officer Vandita Pandey said the company would have liked to follow her story about the swollen, unique corn chip.
“We were so impressed with Rylee’s daring and entrepreneurial spirit, so we wanted to make sure the Stuart family would be rewarded for their creativity and love for Doritos.” said Pandey.
The teen had listed the rare find on eBay and later clarified in a follow-up message to her 11,600 followers that the auction had been an experiment to see if the chip could attract bids.
“I was about to eat it, but I thought I’d better save it for later,” Rylee told me. 9News.
When she checked the auction, she said she was shocked.
“I saw $10,000 and I liked to scream,” she said.
But who is entitled to the windfall is a matter of debate.
“Dad says it’s been his chip since he bought the package, but I ate the package and found it, so I believe it’s mine,” Rylee said.

The auction still has a few days to go, but has already reached over $20,000
Crazy foods that sell for thousands on eBay are a pretty common phenomenon.
Earlier this year, an American teenager successfully sold the single Doritos in a jar as “conversation pieces” for $20 a pop.
