A DoorDash customer criticized his driver for saying his 30 percent tip on a $15 order wasn’t enough based on his “nice house.”
Dr. Ethan Melillo was stunned when he received the rude message from the clerk, who suggested he should have given more than $5 just for the appearance and size of his Rhode Island home.
Melillo, who ordered a meal of falafel and lemon tea, said the restaurant was 20 minutes from his home, which is a normal distance for his area.
But the generous tip apparently wasn’t enough for the DoorDash driver.
The pharmacist added that he had worked in the food industry before entering the world of pharmacy, so “I know how hard others work, so I try to give more since I’ve been there.”

Dr. Ethan Melillo ordered falafel over rice, with white sauce and a Snapple lemon tea drink. His order was $15 and he added a $5 tip for the worker.
In the video, he said: “When you give someone a generous tip and they say, ‘Nice house, thanks for the $5 for a 20-minute ride.'”
“Also, for reference, I live in Rhode Island, and a 10-20 minute drive is very common because we probably have the slowest speed limits in the country.”

His order was $15 and he added a $5 tip for the worker. But this was not enough considering how nice his house was, according to the message she received.
He added: “The total cost of my meal was $15, so I thought a 30% tip was pretty generous.”
“Usually I’m the type of person who tips even when I pick up food. So let me know, how much should I tip on a DoorDash order?

DoorDash has been contacted for comment.

One person wrote on social media, after seeing the story: ‘Wow… you’re better than me. I would have called DoorDash to get my tip back.’
Another added: ‘I lived in RI for 15 years. 20 minutes is NORMAL. Your advice was great.
A former delivery driver said, “The $5 tip for a 20-minute ride is completely reasonable.”
“I don’t understand where all the extra charges are coming from and why we are STILL expected to pay even after paying $10 more for the meal,” said one person on TikTok.
This comes after a DoorDash customer who was cursed out on his own porch by an ‘entitled’ driver for tipping 25 percent on a $20 Pizza Hut order is a disabled military veteran.
Mother-of-two Lacey Purciful, 38, told DailyMail.com she was in a head-on collision in March with a suspected drunk driver and currently has serious spinal injuries.
Because of this, she is unable to cook and relies on DoorDash to feed her family.
She was stunned after Corey, the now-layoff worker, suggested that someone living in a $500,000 house should have been more generous in a foul-mouthed interaction caught on her doorbell camera in Kempner, Texas.
The DoorDash employee yelled ‘f**k you’ before running off his property.
Lacey, who is a disabled vet, said: ‘I can’t take it. I started using DoorDash since my accident.
‘I worked in the restaurant industry for years before joining the military, I tip very well.

“Earlier today, I tipped an elderly DoorDash driver $5.50 for a $17 order of half a dozen donuts, then gave him an additional $5. I gave him a tip of more than 50%’.
His delivery, which went viral on social media, totaled $22, which included a $16 medium pizza and a serving of breadsticks.
The Pizza Hut he ordered from was only six miles from his home in central Texas.
She said the driver, who is described as being in his 20s, began running off her lawn after he yelled the profanity Friday night.
Lacey’s husband then contacted DoorDash and was given a $5 coupon, but the family wanted to escalate the issue and the company decided to launch an investigation.
Now Lacey has been gifted $75 for her troubles, but she said the “100 percent” test still left a sour taste in her mouth.
She said, “I’ve had problems with DoorDash before.” Lacey said orders are often dropped off at her doorstep without drivers notifying her they arrived, and the drivers take too long for her food to be inedible.
