Doonside school stabbing: Shock update on fatal school attack that left one teenager dead and another seriously injured

A boy has been charged with murder after fatally stabbing another boy at a western Sydney school.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Power St in Doonside at around 3.40pm on Friday, following reports that two teenagers had been stabbed.

Before police could attend, two teenagers aged 18 and 19 turned up at Blacktown police station with stab wounds.

The 18-year-old died at the scene, New South Wales Police said in a statement.

The altercation is believed to have been the result of tensions between rival postcodes involving RFA (Ready For Anything) and 67 gangs.

The other teenager was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested nearby and taken to Mount Druitt police station.

A New South Wales police spokesman said the boy had been charged with murder and refused bail to appear in youth court on Saturday.

Officers from Blacktown PAC, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, began an investigation into the incident under the direction of Strike Force Cooey.

A school bus with its emergency lights on was seen blocked at a bus stop in an area cordoned off by police as the investigation continues. Witnesses reported seeing teenagers fighting on the bus moments before the stabbing.

A resident who lives in the area said they “saw a young man jumping their fence and several others running through neighboring backyards.”

Teenagers were seen fleeing the scene while throwing gang signs, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The RFA gang is from Mount Druitt, while the 67 group, meaning postcode 2767, is from Doonside.

The stabbing victims are not believed to have been students at Crawford Public School.

A NSW Police spokesperson said: “At approximately 3.40pm emergency services responded to stabbings near a school on Power Street, Doonside.”

‘Before officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command could arrive at the scene, two teenagers presented themselves at Blacktown Police Station with stab wounds.

“They were treated at the scene for serious stab wounds. One teenager died at the scene and the other teenager was taken to hospital in serious condition.

‘Police have established crime scenes at both locations and are investigating the incident.

“Following investigations, police arrested one person nearby.”
