These dramatic photos show the moment when a doomed buffalo was attacked and then devoured by hungry lions after working together to get their next meal.

The British photographer Nick Dale, 51, witnessed the intense scene in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania in April this year.

His series of photos revealed a lion bouncing on the female cape buffalo from behind before two other hunters lowered their own teeth.

As soon as the three lions succeeded in pushing their prey to the ground, a fourth big cat came along for the party, with one of Mr Dale's photos showing the animals in a row and enjoying their deaths.

Dale, who shot the images with a Nikon D810 while sitting in a jeep a few hundred meters away, said it was one of the most dramatic moments of his entire career.

He said: & # 39; Excitement. That's the only word for it. It is so rare to see a kill, especially one so close to your jeep, that you are desperate not to miss a moment of the action.

& # 39; Once four men were involved, one of them applied the coup de grace by choking the buffalo, first by biting him around the neck and then biting over his mouth. The lions were all standing behind the carcass when they started to feed. & # 39;
