Don’t Forget These Points When Going to Buy Hand Sanitizer

With the coronavirus outbreak, department stores across the world started running out of stock of sanitizers, toilet papers, etc. Of Course when there is a high demand for a product, that too not just in a particular area but across the world, it becomes a profit-making product. In addition to the same, it gives rise to several other factors like adulteration, cloning of items, etc. Our safety is most important but so is using the right product. We could be using a product which is not as good enough as it claimed or expected to be.

Nowadays to ensure more safety there are touchless hand sanitizer dispensers available in the market. Also known as automatic hand sanitizer,  because they ensure contactless sanitization in working places.  Here are some tips to keep in mind when you’re out there to buy hand sanitizer:

First of all, understand that there are two types of hand sanitizers:

  • Alcohol-based
  • Alcohol-free

Now that you know there are two types,  you need to consider a few things before you venture out to purchase a bottle. One of them is that while hand sanitizers based on alcohol can rapidly reduce the number of microbes in the hand, all forms of germs can not be removed. Therefore, washing your hands with soap and water is also recommended.

Most of the hand sanitizers which are alcohol-based do have an expiry date mentioned. Look for that as well. It is important to keep it properly as it is vaporous in nature due to alcohol. It tends to evaporate over time.

Make sure while you’re looking for it do consider that they are antibacterial and antiviral. It should always be based on alcohol, with alcohol at 60 to 70 percent. Although it is equally effective to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, it is not always necessary. You can’t always use soap and water when you encounter something while you travel; that’s when you can use a sanitizer. Any time and wherever it can be used. The bottle must be properly packed, away from the sun and in a cool spot.

Other things to consider when buying a hand sanitizer:

1. Go for the hand sanitizer based on your skin type:

As discussed above the competition increases automatically for a product that is highly in demand. You’ll find plenty of hand sanitizers in the market with different components, fragrances, etc., but you shouldn’t just go for any randomly, consider the one which is suitable according to your skin type. Make sure it is gentle on your skin and doesn’t irritate it or lead to skin inflammation. This point is highly recommended for people with sensitive skin.

2. Safe product:

Again as discussed with the rise in demand for a product rises the chances of adulteration of the same. Although majority of sanitizers are included with good ingredients, there are some that consist of harsh materials. Make sure you choose the one with pure o formulation instead of just choosing one randomly.

3. Storage:

Don’t forget that sanitizers are flammable and we’re quite sure you don’t want to take any further risks. Do not keep near anything that can catch fire. Also, it should be kept out of reach of kids.

4. Expiry date:

On most of the bottles the expiration date would be around or 3 years. But not to forget that a hand sanitizer loses its effectiveness when the concentration of alcohol drops below 60%.
