Donald Trump will take the 30 Electoral College votes in his home state of Florida.

The Associated Press called the race just an hour after polls closed with Trump ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris by more than 11 percent with 86 percent of the votes reported.

Florida was previously a swing state, but has moved increasingly to the right in recent elections.

Trump won the Sunshine State in 2016 by just 1.2 percent against Hillary Clinton. He widened the gap in 2020 with a 3.3 percent gap between him and Joe Biden.

If results remain on track, Trump will have a much larger margin of victory against Harris this election cycle.

Surprisingly, Trump leads in Miami-Dade at 8:40 p.m., despite the county turning blue in 2016 and 2020 despite the state turning red.

Trump moved to Florida in 2019 with then-First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron. He made his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, his primary residence after living in the liberal enclave of New York City his entire life.

Results continue to be tabulated in Florida, but with more than 5.5 million votes for Trump as of 8:15 p.m., Harris has no way of catching her Republican rival.
