Former President Donald Trump ridiculed Joe Biden’s mental and physical state during an interview with Elon Musk at X Spaces.
On Monday night, after technical glitches delayed the start of the event, Trump launched into many of his harshest comments against his former opponent, as he has done at some of his campaign rallies since Biden dropped out of the White House race.
He criticized Biden’s appearance during the president’s weekend visit to his Rehoboth Beach home, where Biden lounged on the beach for a few hours with his wife Jill and granddaughter Naomi, and went for a bike ride near his Delaware getaway.
“Now Biden is, you know, close to the vegetative stage, in my opinion. OK?” Trump told Musk.
“I looked at him on the beach today and I said, ‘Why would anyone allow this?’ The guy could barely walk. Why would anyone allow this? Does he have a political advisor who thinks this looks good?’
Former President Donald Trump said Monday night that President Joe Biden was “close to the vegetative stage” after a video of Biden lounging on the beach aired.
“You know, he thinks this looks good? Because it looks really bad,” Trump continued.
“It’s ridiculous. I mean, he’s been doing this for a long time. You know, he can’t lift the chair. The chair weighs about three ounces. It’s designed to be lifted by children and elderly people. And he can’t lift it. This whole thing is crazy,” Trump continued.
“It’s clearly like we don’t have a president,” Musk agreed, in a lengthy interview that included many bizarre moments, including Trump saying Harris resembled his wife Melania, as she appeared on the cover of Time magazine.
Trump, 78, spoke after C-SPAN A video clip was broadcast Biden, 81, leaned back in his beach chair as he sat facing the waves on a pleasant August weekend at the beach. The clip went viral, as internet users posted about the president taking a break now that he’s left the campaign trail behind.
But it’s unclear what the source of Trump’s comments about Biden not being able to lift a chair was. Reporters traveling with Biden this weekend were only able to see him when he was already sitting in his chair. There have been previous videos of Biden walking shirtless on the beach.
On Sunday, Biden sped past reporters during a bike ride, waving one hand as he sped past without answering questions about Gaza, Russia and Trump’s claims that he is angry about being forced out.

Harris’ campaign has criticized Trump for staying home and playing golf instead of holding more campaign events.
Trump’s attacks on Biden come as Kamala Harris’ campaign has been ridiculing him for staying home instead of visiting key states during a period in which Harris has held a narrow lead in polls in key battlegrounds.
Trump has held several rallies since his convention, most recently in Montana, a state that has no presidential battleground but is home to a key Senate race.
Last week at his press conference, Trump was pressed to talk about his campaign schedule and said it was because he was “heading way ahead and I’m letting his convention go ahead.”
