Donald Trump is slowly abandoning his criticism of Joe Biden in favor of attacking his likely new 2024 opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
The former president is trying out some new nicknames for the Democratic nominee, including putting the words “lyin” and “laffin” in front of her name at Truth Social and his rallies.
But Trump has yet to stop calling the current president “corrupt” and “sleeping.”
Harris, who performed notoriously poorly in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, will take over Biden’s campaign after the president ended his reelection bid on Saturday and endorsed his No. 2.
But some Republicans say Harris was selected for her current position solely because of DEI (an acronym for “diversity, equity and inclusion”) programs. And critics don’t believe the Democratic Party has the right to essentially ignore the votes of American citizens by removing Biden and replacing him without an open process.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) called Harris a “DEI hire” in an interview Monday because Biden said during the 2020 election that he was “going to hire a Black woman for vice president.”
“What about white women? What about any other group?” Burchett added.
Burchett posted on X on Monday: ‘The media propped up this president, lied to the American people for three years, then replaced him with our DEI VP.’
Trump has been flooding his Truth Social account with posts about “liar Kamala Harris” since she took over the Biden campaign on Sunday.
“Liar Kamala Harris destroys everything she touches!” he wrote in a post on Tuesday.
In another, the former president questioned: “Does the lying Kamala Harris believe that Joe Biden is fit to lead the United States for the next six months? She should answer the question.”
“Now it appears Joe is delegating his presidential authority to unelected bureaucrats in Washington. He doesn’t even trust his vice president. WHO RULES THE COUNTRY?” he added.
Harris took over President Joe Biden’s campaign on Sunday after he announced earlier in the day that he was ending his reelection bid amid a wave of calls for him to backtrack.
In a post Monday night, Trump wrote on his social media website: “ABC Fake News is a joke, one of the WORST in the business. They are trying to make Crooked Joe into a brave warrior because he didn’t have the ‘guts’ to fight. He quit!”

Trump agreed to debate Biden at an event hosted by ABC News in September, but is now pushing for a debate between himself and Harris to be hosted by Fox News, a much friendlier right-leaning channel.
