Donald Trump says the United States Postal Service (USPS) is in charge of the 2024 election in a new post accusing the agency of being unprepared to handle mail-in ballots.

The former president pointed to frequent delays and lost mail as proof that USPS cannot be trusted to receive and deliver 2024 ballots completed at home.

Absentee, early and home voting have become much more popular since the COVID-19 pandemic forced states and the federal government to adapt to allow voters to cast ballots by mail.

But Trump and his allies claim this is what led to their allegations of massive fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“The United States Postal Service has admitted that it is a poorly managed disaster that is experiencing mail losses and delays at a level never seen before,” Trump posted on his Truth Social on Sunday morning.

“If this is a FACT, how can we be expected to allow or trust the United States Postal Service to conduct the 2024 Presidential Election?” he questioned. “They cannot possibly do this. HELP!”

When completing ballots at home, voters can mail them in or return them in a specially designed ballot box.

Trump claimed in a follow-up post Sunday that CNN reported the USPS was not prepared for an influx of ballots.

The former president did not cite exactly where he got the information, but it appears to point to a 2020 CNN report that said some states were concerned they would not be able to deliver ballots on time under election laws.

Those who complete ballots early or by mail can send them via USPS or drop them off at a dedicated ballot drop box.

Trump and his team are pursuing several lawsuits alleging that the 2020 election was riddled with fraud and interference by Democrats. None have been successful so far.

Trump also faces legal battles related to his claims that the election was “stolen.”

And the 2024 Republican presidential candidate still maintains that he was the legitimate winner against President Joe Biden in the last election.
