- She packed the Michigan-based event with a host of big-name stars endorsing the vice president.
Donald Trump says Oprah Winfrey is no longer the person he knew decades earlier.
The iconic talk show host is supporting Kamala Harris for president in 2024 and last week live-streamed an event with the vice president.
Trump said the person he saw speaking to Harris on Friday was “not the real Oprah.”
Winfrey’s event with Harris sought to build on the wave of support the vice president has enjoyed since entering the race after President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid on July 21.
Donald Trump says Oprah Winfrey is not the same person he knew in previous decades after the iconic talk show host hosted a star-studded event with Vice President Kamala Harris last week.
Other celebrities including Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez took part in the 90-minute event from Michigan, one of the seven key battleground states for the November election.
Trump has participated in a few interviews with Winfrey over the years and pointed that out in his Truth Social post on Saturday, where he attacked the talk show host.
“A long time ago, Oprah Winfrey asked me to be on her final television show. The last week of her show was a big deal and it was an honor for me, along with my family, to do so,” he wrote of the registered independent voters.
“When I watched your interview yesterday with a woman who is destroying, through her complete and utter incompetence, America, I couldn’t help but think that this is not the real Oprah,” he said, changing his tone to: “This is not a person who wants millions of people, from prisons and mental institutions, and terrorists, drug dealers and human traffickers, from all over the world, to come into our country.”
Ahead of Thursday’s United for America event, Winfrey said she hoped to get Americans excited about voting this cycle.
“When I watched your interview yesterday with a woman who is destroying America with her complete and utter incompetence, I couldn’t help but think that this is not the real Oprah,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
However, Trump claimed in his ramblings on Truth Social that Harris is not “mentally fit” to serve in the Oval Office.
“Kamala looked really dumb, she couldn’t answer the simplest questions about inflation, the cost of goods, or our very porous and dangerous border. There was no leader there, and Oprah just wanted to crawl under a table!” Trump continued.
“Comrade Kamala Harris is not mentally prepared to be president. She knows it, and so does everyone else!”
