Donald Trump Jr. sparked some outrage this weekend after posting a series of photos with two of his children.
The eldest son of the president-elect published the photos to Instagram, where he has more than 7.9 million followers.
“Game night and indoor s’mores!” the 47-year-old executive vice president of the Trump Organization captioned the set, days after debuting new girlfriend Bettina Anderson at Mar-a-Lago for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
The 38-year-old was nowhere to be seen in the photos published on Saturday, but instead Trump Jr was seen with his two youngest, Spencer, 12, and 10-year-old Chloe.
That included Trump Jr.’s 55-year-old former fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, whom he started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2020.
Despite being somewhat benign, the messages quickly created a backlash among onlookers, disturbed not by the presence of junk food, but by a single can of Zyn.
Zyn is a brand of nicotine pouch placed between the gums and the lip that has grown in popularity among conservatives. The container was seen on the table where the family was snacking and playing board games.
The children – who resulted from Trump Jr.’s relationship with his ex-wife Vanessa Trump – did not seem to participate. They enjoyed s’mores and threw axes with their father, while onlookers found problems with the tobacco product.

Donald Trump Jr. sparked some outrage over the weekend after posting a series of photos with two of his children, Spencer, 12, and 10-year-old Chloe
Bystanders discovered a problem with a single can of Zyn on the table next to his youngest, days after he debuted his new girlfriend at his father’s New Year’s celebration at Mar-a-Lago
‘Not the (Z)yn next to the child!’ wrote a top commentator, as Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, prepares for her new role as ambassador to Greece.
“You probably shouldn’t leave your daughter (Z)yn at that age,” another added, seemingly in jest.
“It’s the (Z)yn for me,” someone else snapped, closing the comment with a laughing emoji.
“S’mores and (Z)nns,” another exclaimed, sending out emojis indicating that they too found the situation humorous.
Others pointed out that the product was close to the children, without objecting, as the bus was closed and the children did not even acknowledge its presence.
“The joy and happiness in (this) family,” one such onlooker wrote, while others begged him for the poster to reunite with Guilfoyle.
“And I see the Zyn. Spittin while you hunt,” the person joked.
The post and subsequent backlash come after Zyn emerged over the past year as an unlikely symbol for conservative masculinity, thanks in part to promotions from figures like Tucker Carslon and the founders of the Full Send podcast.
Some criticisms were made in jest, others were more serious, as the tobacco product is not intended for minors
The trio also appeared to be engaged in ax throwing, although it was Zyn who brought the spectators on their way
The product made headlines in November when Fox News’ Tucker Carlson dropped it to launch its competitor after discovering problems with Democratic donations from Philip Morris employees.

When such reports emerged, Trump Jr. forced to issue a statement, breaking his silence on the split and saying the two are dealing with it amicably.
“Kimberly and I will never stop caring for each other and will always have a special bond,” the then-46-year-old said before celebrating his birthday with Anderson last week as he rang in the new year. Trump Jr.’s birthday was December 31.
He told Page Six, “I couldn’t be more proud of her and the important role she will continue to play (as U.S. ambassador to Greece),” after his father gave her the nod to take the position weeks ago.
Trump Jr. added of the former California attorney: “She is an undefeated prosecutor, a national TV news star, a leader of the MAGA movement and a close advisor to the President.
