Donald Glover has canceled the remainder of his tour as musical act Childish Gambino.
The 41-year-old artist, who performed in Detroit in August, announced Friday that he cannot go on stage due to a health problem.
On social networks, where he has 7.8 million followers between Instagram and X, he shared a detailed message.
He began: ‘After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to check on an ailment that had become apparent. After being tested, it became clear that he would not be performing that night and after further testing, he would not be able to perform the remainder of the US tour in the requested time.
He continued: ‘As of now I am scheduled for surgery and I need time to heal. My road to recovery is something I must seriously face.
“That being said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates.”

It comes after she postponed a series of dates in early September, sharing that she had to “focus on my physical health.”
At the time, he ordered potential concertgoers to hold on to their tickets.
‘Save your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for upcoming North American dates when they are rescheduled. thanks for the privacy. thanks for the support. Thanks for the love,’ he published in X.
But in Friday’s note, Glover shared: ‘Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thank you for the love, privacy and support.’
Earlier this year, the This Is America hitmaker revealed that he plans to retire his Childish Gambino alter ego.
“It was really like, ‘Oh, it’s done. It’s not satisfying,'” he detailed to New York Times. “And I felt like I didn’t need to build this way anymore.”
The tour was to include 33 stops across the United States, beginning in Oklahoma City on August 11.
The North American leg of the tour was scheduled to end in Chicago on October 3.

In addition to making music, Glover is a writer and actor.
He directed and starred in the FX drama Atlanta, which ended with the fourth season finale in November 2022.
Earlier this year he starred alongside Maya Erskine in the Amazon Prime series Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
In January he married his longtime partner, Michelle White, with whom he shares three sons: Legend, Drake and Donald.
