Donald Trump was greeted at the Republican National Convention by his family, his new running mate and a crowd of adoring Republican delegates who have just nominated him as their presidential candidate for the third consecutive time.
The former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., appeared to have a tear in his eye as his father made his grand entrance into the Fiserv Forum convention hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday night.
Wearing a bandage around his ear, Trump also appeared emotional as he walked toward his family and closest allies in the VIP guest box.
Don Jr. was joined by his partner Kimberly Guilfoyle, his brother Eric Trump and his half-sister Tiffany Trump to welcome their father and the 2024 Republican nominee to the convention site.
Absent from the guest box was former first lady Melania Trump, who is expected to appear at the Republican Convention later in the week.

Among those in the front row of the guest box with Trump were his newly announced running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), who has been mentioned as a name for the vice presidential pick, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and his wife, Kelly, and conservative media personality Tucker Carlson.

Singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood sang his signature patriotic ballad God Bless the USA as Trump entered the stadium. This is the same song the former president plays at the beginning of his rallies.
That includes the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, where Trump survived an assassination attempt by a 20-year-old gunman who opened fire at the event, killing one and seriously wounding two others.

Eric said Monday that his father is “not deterred” by the attempted murder and “understands” how different Saturday’s attack could have been.
Earlier in the day, Don Jr. became angry when an MSNBC reporter tried to speak to him on the convention floor.
When the reporter asked Trump’s son if his father would “put kids in cages” at the border if he were elected for another term, Don Jr. called him a “clown” and told him to “get out of here!”
He criticized the “MSDNC reporter” – a reference to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) – and said of him: “A clown is an understatement.”
