Don Bradman’s childhood home hits the market for $3 million as the property (and backyard) where the cricket legend mastered his craft goes up for auction

Cricket fans can get their hands on a piece of sporting history – Sir Don Bradman’s childhood home is for sale.

Australian cricket legend Bradman is widely regarded as the greatest batsman of all time, averaging 99.94 runs during his incredible Test career.

Bradman mastered his craft by hitting a golf ball into a water tank outside his childhood home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, using a single stump to defend his wicket.

And the four-bedroom property could be yours after it hits the market this week, with Drew Lindsay Sotherby’s International Realty handling the sale.

The property will go to auction unless it is previously sold. The price guide is reportedly between $2.95 million and $3.1 million.

Bradman, who died in 2001, spent his formative years at the property, living there from the age of three to 15.

The 1890-built home underwent an extensive three-year renovation in 2008, with modern details added to its 19th-century elegance.

In 2013 the property was announced as winner of the National Trust Conservation and Heritage Award.

The charming white clapboard home features polished floors and wood-paneled walls, with plenty of color throughout the property.

The stables at the rear of the property have been converted into an apartment with bathroom and kitchenette.

Bradman is the only Australian cricketer to have been knighted for services to the game and is known as “The Don”.
