Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa Addresses Taking Risks After Concussion

dolphins attack player Tua Tagovailoa he returned to the lineup in Miami’s 16-10 win over the Steelers on Sunday night, and observers noted he made a couple of risky decisions in the wake of his recent concussion.

Tagovailoa dropped his shoulder and tried to run through defenders for more yards on two separate occasions against Pittsburgh, raising questions about whether the Miami quarterback was playing recklessly.

“I wasn’t trying to be Superman or a superhero,” Tagovailoa said after the game. by USA Today.

“Obviously, I got benched after those plays. Those things that happened are things I shouldn’t be doing.”

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Tagovailoa approached plays with him on the bench.

“Immediately on the next set after the first time he did it, he said, ‘Coach, I’m sorry. I needed that.’ I was like, ‘Okay,’” McDaniel said.

“I’m never going to totally encourage that at all. I’m probably going to advise you to slide every time. But when it comes time to push and a guy has the ball in his hands, it’s going to be tough to get him to turn it down completely, but I’ll try,” McDaniel added.

Tagovailoa’s teammates were also nervous about the hits he was taking.

“Man, in my head I was like, ‘Get down, kid. Get down,’” wide receiver Tyreek Hill said. “But it shows how much pride he has in this game. Just him coming back from that terrifying injury he had, him diving headfirst, going into a linebacker. That was crazy. I was like, ‘Come on.’”

For the Dolphins to have their best chance of winning, they need a healthy Tagovailoa. Although he was uninjured after putting his shoulder down twice Sunday night, it’s likely his coach and his teammates will want to see him avoid taking hits in the future.
