Doja Cat deactivated her Instagram account on Saturday after announcing to her followers that the sudden departure was due to how she was ‘talked to’ and ‘treated’ on the social media app.
The Paint The Town Red singer, 28, whose fans recently speculated that she had split from her boyfriend J. Cyrus, initially uploaded a photo of a crab claw holding a cigarette.
In the caption, the star revealed: “Hey I’m turning it off because I’m not feeling this anymore.” You guys, take care of yourselves.’
She later edited the message to add: “I like coming here to find inspiration and see people being creative, but I feel like this is getting to be too much.”
‘The way they talk to me here and treat me makes me have fucked up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the Internet. Bye bye.’

Her departure from the app comes shortly after some of her fans, also known as Kittenz, shared concerns that Doja Cat may have split from J. Cyrus in recent weeks.
The speculation arose after social media users claimed to have seen his account on the celebrity dating app called Raya.
The two were first seen together in November 2022, but it wasn’t until they were seen sharing dinner in New York City in May 2023 that they were linked.
The singer’s relationship with the social media comedian caused a rift with some of his fans after accusations that he had emotionally abused and manipulated some of his Twitch followers resurfaced in July last year.
After some of her followers criticized her, the rapper, whose real name is Amala Dlamini, called fan accounts dedicated to her “creepy.”
She wrote in since-deleted tweets: “My fans can’t name themselves for shit.” If you call yourself ‘kitty’ or ‘fucking kitty’, that means you should put down the phone, get a job and help your parents around the house.’
The artist later ignored losing 250,000 followers on Instagram as a result of the dispute.
At the time, Doja Cat uploaded a photo of a road and added the caption: “Seeing all these people stop following me makes me feel like I’ve defeated a big beast that’s been holding me back for so long…”

‘And I feel like I can reconnect with the people that I really care about and love me for who I am and not what I was. I feel free.’
Speculation about the breakup appears to have begun late last year after X users claimed to have seen the rapper’s account on Raya, an invite-only dating app primarily used by celebrities and other high-profile people.
“My son made Doja Cat attack him with Raya and yes of course he is,” one user wrote in December 2023.
And last month in February, a fan account claimed that the singer ‘uses celebrity dating app Raya, confirming she is now single.’
Reactions in the comments were almost universally positive, with several fans responding, “We won,” while others made negative references to Cyrus.
But others didn’t think the potential breakup would resolve Doja from the statements she had made about her most enthusiastic fans.
“The fact that she broke up with that man doesn’t change the behavior she displayed while she was with that man by the way (and she still chose to be with him to begin with), but now everyone won’t care (again),” he responded another person.
However, social media users claimed to have seen an account belonging to Doja Cat on the app before the start of her relationship with J. Cyrus (real name: Jeffrey Cyrus).

Having an account on the site also does not necessarily mean that the two have broken up and does not imply that she is looking to date other people.
Despite rumors circulating on social media, the couple was seen together at the 2024 Grammy Awards last month in February.
Also late last year, in December, Doja notably responded to claims that she “hates her fans” during an interview with Apple Music.
‘One thing I want to make clear is that you will never see a direct quote from me saying that I hate my fans. Not even once.’
But it is something very misquoted. Everyone says they hate their fans. “I never said that, but I like to play with it as a meme.”
And he continued: ‘I know that people who understand it, understand it. And I’m fine with that. I don’t have to explain my sense of humor or comedy to anyone.
“If people don’t see the joke, then they just don’t see it, and it’s not my responsibility to make them understand it.”

Doja Cat is also in the midst of a hiatus from her Scarlet tour, which will resume in April with two dates in Indio, California, followed by her European tour beginning in June; seen in October 2023 in San Francisco
Doja Cat later expressed, “I’m not going to make everyone happy, and that’s just it.” “I’m just not, and I know I’m not, so that liberated me immensely.”
The Say So singer has been filtering through a busy schedule and recently donned a statement dress at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards last month in Los Angeles.
He had earned three nominations, including Best Pop Solo Performance for Paint The Town Red and Best Rap Song for the song Attention.
