Elon Musk and Donald Trump have rejected two Democrats who asked to join the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), co-chaired by Musk.

However, this does not include Norman Eisen and Virginia Canter, an ethics official for Barack Obama and a lawyer for Bill Clinton, respectively.

The two Democrats asked if they could join Trump and Musk’s effort to reduce government waste.

“We are writing to request our appointment as members of the Department of Government Efficiency,” the pair said in a letter to Musk and fellow co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy.

The pair were dismissed, with a spokesperson for the Trump transition team referring to a Truth Social post from the president-elect for further explanation.

“President Trump’s Truth has made it clear that we have no room for Democrats in our government,” said Katie Miller New York Times.

Miller seemed to be referring to one message of “out with the old, in with the new” sent by Trump on Wednesday, naming and shaming many of his former Cabinet members as they his new government.

Nearly everyone mentioned in that mission was a Republican or someone who worked for Trump during his first term.

He wrote: “As of today, the new Trump administration has hired over a thousand people into the US government. They are outstanding in every way and you will see the fruits of their labor in the years to come. We will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and it will happen very soon!’

Trump then advised all hiring managers that “it would be helpful if you did not send or recommend people who have worked with or are endorsed by ‘a list of anti-Trump Republicans,’ in order to avoid time, save money and money. attempt.’

He specifically named eleven different Republicans and first-term Trump employees, many of whom had nicknames, and concluded that they and many others suffered from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

The pair told the Times they have created a nonprofit organization in an effort to keep an eye on DOGE, the State Democracy Defenders Fund.

They wanted to work as ombudsmen for the DOGE efforts to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

Eisen and Cantor also wanted to help keep the group compliant Federal Advisory Committee Act that forces nongovernmental employee committees to be “reasonably balanced in terms of the views represented.”

DOGE is a private entity not involved with the federal government, but its agents have already visited several executive departments to conduct interviews, the report said.

The U.S. Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services have all been involved in preliminary investigations.

Musk previously outlined an ambitious goal of cutting federal spending by $2 trillion over the next few years, with the federal budget hovering around $6.8 trillion.

However, earlier this week, SpaceX’s CEO appeared to adjust that goal.

“I think we’ll try for $2 trillion. I think this is the best outcome,” he said, “but I do think you should have a little bit of surplus. I think if we try to raise $2 trillion, we have a good chance of raising $1 (trillion).”

First announced in November after the presidential election, DOGE is looking to quickly scale up its operations.

According to the Post’s report, the DOGE office in Washington, DC aims to reach 100 employees in the coming weeks.

“Recruiting for a very small number of full-time HR, IT and finance roles,” the DOGE X account reported in late December. ‘If you are interested, please send us your CV and a few points as to why you are interested in DOGE.’

The official DOGE account this week once again put out a call for engineers to sign up.

“Recruitment for a very small number of full-time paid software engineers and InfoSec engineers,” the statement said. “If you are interested, please send us a few credits demonstrating exceptional skills and your cell phone number.”

As much of the department remains shrouded in mystery, such as why its employees share an office with SpaceX, who pays employees’ salaries and which parts of the government they focus on, some high-profile executives have been appointed to management positions.

Steve Davis, a veteran of several Musk companies with a reputation for cutting costs, has been brought in to DOGE to help recruit top talent.

Emil Michael, a former executive at Uber, has joined in pushing back on government regulations, the newspaper reported.
