Shoppers were left baffled by a £29.99 Zara top in its new collection which has an unusual feature – four armholes.

Spotted in a UK store, the Knotted Plush sweatshirt has a sleeveless silhouette, with the addition of long sleeves set at the hem.

Holl Jaya (@holljaya) shared a video of the garment on TikTok, which racked up more than 3 million views and 42,000 likes in just three days.

The Manchester-based model filmed her boyfriend inspecting the gray cotton top in a 22-second clip on the video hosting service, titled: ‘Zara what is it’.

In response, dozens of bemused viewers made their suggestions as to what the purpose of the extra armholes could be, with some even comparing the top to a straitjacket.

One viewer suggested: “You fold it over and put the longer arms through the short arms to make a long-sleeved crop top.”

Another viewer suggested: ‘It’s a hugging jumper for couples.’

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: ‘Wish straitjacket!’

“It’s a leotard you don’t have to take off in the bathroom, the sleeves are for your feet,” one person wrote.

“You probably have to bend it and put your arms through the holes,” said another.

“I thought you should turn the sleeves inside out and turn the bottom inward to make it look like a two-layer cropped sweater,” someone said.

According to Zara’s website, the Knotted Plush Sweater is a ‘sleeveless sweatshirt, with a crew neck, knot-effect sleeves at the bottom and ribbed cuffs.’

Available in sizes small, medium and large, the garment is available in select Zara stores nationwide.

The £29.99 Tie-Dye Terry Sweatshirt is a “sleeveless sweatshirt with a crew neck, tie-hem sleeves and ribbed cuffs.”

The light gray heather fabric incorporates RCS certified recycled cotton and RCS certified recycled polyester in an attempt to limit raw material consumption.

Zara has paired the top with biker shorts and sneakers, creating a summer-ready aesthetic.

However, judging by the perplexed comments on social media, it seems that buyers are not impressed.

Zara is known for its strange campaigns and website design, whether it be confusing sizes or shocking advertising campaigns.

The fast fashion brand is also selling mid-rise “crinkled effect” jeans for £49.99, resulting in a surprise for people all over the internet.

The straight-cut denim includes five pockets and is made from a ‘crinkle-effect fabric’, for those who want a pair of wrinkled trousers that look like they’ve been left in the dryer for days.

London-based fashion and beauty influencer Emma G. Mason shared a video of the denim and asked: “What is this?” and captioning the video, “trying to get us to wear wrinkled jeans.”

A viral sound that asks ‘Ew, what is that?’ played in the background of the now-viral video, which racked up 18.7 million views and 1.9 million likes.

“A Zara intern is trying to make this a trend so he doesn’t have to fold clothes anymore,” one commenter joked, and other responses were decidedly mixed.

“I SAW SOMEONE POSTING THIS SAYING ‘run don’t walk to Zara’ LIKE WHAAA,” one follower shouted, to which a commenter responded: “Don’t walk run away from Zara.”

‘Run, don’t walk to Zara, no. Run, don’t walk towards that IRON,” another joked.

Others compared jeans to “that receipt in my purse,” “that piece of paper in my backpack,” and “my clothes when I finally take them out of the dryer after sitting there for a week.”

Another person joked: “Zara has to iron.”

This wasn’t Emma’s only brush with Zara’s new aesthetic: the lifestyle content creator also shared a video from the men’s section, where a coat was similarly wrinkled.

“Zara is at it again with the wrinkled clothes,” Emma proclaimed.
