A woman accused of throwing a dog off a cliff while it was trapped inside a kennel has been unmasked as a young mother.

Kaylah Williams, 34, allegedly threw the Australian Bulldog over a cliff in bushland near Clive Bissell Drive in Mount Ousley, Wollongong, sometime on the afternoon of Saturday, January 21 last year.

The dog was discovered around 8.30am the next morning, after a hiker heard the animal howling and then tracked it to an inverted kennel at the base of the rock face.

The man called the police, who attended the scene with specialized officers from the police rescue team, the bomb disposal unit and members of the SES to begin a rescue operation.

The dog was allegedly found emaciated, in poor health and with injuries sustained in the fall.

He was taken to a local veterinarian but had to be euthanized due to his poor condition and injuries.

Police seized the kennel for forensic examination and launched an investigation which culminated in the arrest of Ms Williams at her Horsley home more than 12 months later on April 12, 2024.

WhatsNew2Day Australia can reveal that Williams is a young mother originally from Wellington, a small rural town of just over 4,000 people located in the Central Western Slopes region of New South Wales.

It is understood Williams moved to western Sydney about seven years ago before heading to Wollongong.

On social media, she describes herself as a “full-time mom” who “loves to have fun all the time.”

“No one is perfect and no one deserves to be perfect,” says one of his posts.

“No one has it easy, everyone has problems. You never know what people are going through. So pause before you start judging, criticizing or making fun of others.

‘Everyone is fighting their own war!’

Williams has been accused of torturing, beating, etc. and causing the death of an animal and is currently out on bail.

He is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on May 14.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
