A pet owner looking for a replacement after his beloved dog was stolen was amazed to see her on an animal rescue website a year later.
29-year-old Delon Pearson was heartbroken when his eight-year-old akita Missy was stolen from his front yard in Liverpool last year.
The family struggled to cope with the theft, and after months of grief, she started thinking about getting a replacement dog.
Mr. Pearson searched the internet and saw Missy on the website of Skylor’s Animal Rescue in Dobshill, Flintshire, North Wales.
Delon Pearson surprised his son Bradley by taking their stolen dog Missy home to Liverpool after finding their pet on the Skylor’s Animal Rescue website in Flintshire, North Wales
He said, “I couldn’t believe it. Almost a year had passed since she was taken, so I thought maybe we could take a look around.
“It was really nothing more than that, but when I clicked the first result on Google, I saw this photo and I was completely amazed. I refreshed the page about three times and zoomed in on the photo and there she was.
“I kept checking twice because I was so shocked that I actually found her.”
Missy was found by rescue workers months after her kidnapping in Manchester. She was not chipped at the time, making it impossible to take her home.
Mr. Pearson then surprised his eight-year-old son Bradley by reuniting him with Missy.
He said, “It’s an experience I will never forget,” said Bradley.
The two grew up together, Missy even slept next to Bradley’s bed every night. They are best friends.

“He was devastated when she was taken. But I will never forget his reaction when I told him she was coming back, he was so happy. ‘
Missy immediately recognized Bradley and has not left his side since.
Dawn Taylor, who heads Skylor’s Animal Rescue North Wales, told The Leader, “Calling Delon back and forth was emotional.
She was also missed so much by his son Bradley who she slept with at night. And at the reunion there were no tears, only happiness.
“This was a great day for Missy, her family, and of course for us – we are so happy that a stolen, beloved dog has made its way home.”
The rescue center urges pet owners to chip their cats and dogs.
A spokesman said, “If she had been chipped and details had been kept, she could have been home much earlier.
“We always recommend that people keep their animal’s chips up to date because you never know how to lose your pet.
“We’re just so happy that Missy is now with her family where she belongs.”
