Dog is & # 39; forced to drink ditch water to fill it up for Vietnamese meat trade & # 39; in images released by campaign group
- Anti Dog Meat Charity, Fight Dog Meat, said the meat trade in Vietnam is violent
- Reportedly, the video shows 5 men preparing to forcefully feed a dog from a puddle
- Some Vietnamese people think that eating dogs at the end of the month causes bad luck, while some think it is like eating a different meat source
A charity organization against dog meat has shared images of a dog allegedly forced to drink ditch water to make it fat for the Vietnamese meat trade.
Fight Dog Meat shared the clip of five men who are allegedly preparing to put a tube in the dog's stomach so that they can pour in pee water.
The animal welfare charity said this is a widely used method so that traders can demand a higher price from the butchers.
The men lift the dog off the ground by its jaws while they prepare the snake to grease it
The cameraman said the video failed just before one of the five pushes the tube into the dog's stomach. They ran away when the traders saw them for fear of their safety
"Dirty plastic snakes are rammed down the dog's throat so that spoiled drainage water is forcefully fed into their stomachs. It is done to increase the body weight of each dog just before they are sold to butchers for dog meat, & # 39; told the charity Subway.
"This happens every day. The dog in the video is wearing a collar, so it's probably someone & # 39; s stolen pet. & # 39;
Although not shown in the video, the person who witnessed the scenes said that the video was cut out just when the tube was inserted.
They added that they had to flee after the traders noticed them for fear of their safety.
Both the dog's jaws and legs are held together to stop biting or wrestling during the process
It is estimated that Vietnam consumes five million dogs a year, while China eats around 20 million.
Yesterday, the last dog meat slaughterhouse was closed in Seoul, South Korea.
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has completely banned the trade in dog meat and charities of animal rights around the world have welcomed the decision.
According to the Humane Society: & # 39; Dogs are packed in trucks and driven for days – sick, hungry, thirsty, injured and scared – and then beaten to death or hanged in slaughterhouses or markets. & # 39;
Dog meat, known as Thit Cho in Vietnam, is ingrained as a source of food in the country. For some, eating dogs is no different than consuming other animals.
Some people also believe that eating dog meat by the end of the month helps to clear bad luck from the previous weeks.
