An Oregon mother was left fighting for her life after being attacked by a pack of dogs; her facial injuries were too horrific to show.

Mytoka Petry was attacked by eight dogs on the morning of July 15 in North Portland, as police officers responded to a medical call at a homeless encampment.

Petry lost an arm and an ear in the brutal attack and was rushed to hospital, while two other people who tried to intervene were also injured.

All eight animals were detained and are being held pending a formal investigation.

Since the incident, friends and family have organized a GoFundMe Page To help his family while he remains in intensive care, they covered his severely injured face with a heart emoji.

According to GoFundMe, doctors now also fear she may lose her eye and she has undergone five surgeries in seven days.

Her close friend Julana Torres said: KGW‘No one should have to go through that or be on the verge of almost losing their life for going out for a walk.’

Torres described to the outlet how she was in “total shock” after first hearing the news of the attack.

She added: ‘I couldn’t even say anything, I was just speechless because it just didn’t seem real.

‘This is a member of our community, a Portland native, mother of two girls, who has served her community.

“She was a nurse, a carer, a loving person. And what happened to her is absolutely horrendous.”

While her friend Kristine Rebber told me Currency“Someone needs to be held accountable. This is tragic. There’s no reason she couldn’t have been there.”

Rebber said that while Petry is in stable condition, those closest to her have been told she has a long road ahead of her.

He added: “He may be in intensive care for months. And right now there is so much room for infection or other complications that he is not out of the woods.”

City police said no arrests have yet been made in the case.

Portland has become synonymous with crime and urban decay in recent years.

The progressive Oregon city is plagued by homeless encampments and associated crimes, including drug abuse and murder.

Portland saw its annual murder numbers hit an all-time high in 2022.

Progressive Democratic District Attorney Mike Schmidt was elected in the summer of 2020.

But he was ousted earlier this year when voters turned against him for “equity”-focused policies they said were too soft on crime.

He was ousted from office by Deputy District Attorney Nathan Vasquez, who promised to clean up the city and take a tougher stance on crimes that affect locals’ quality of life.
