If you are what you eat, our latest poll suggests you vote for what you drink. Or something like that.
The nation’s polarization has not only driven a wedge between friendships and families, it extends even to the divide between voters and their favorite beverages.
Supporters of teetotaler Donald Trump and wine- and ice-loving Kamala Harris go in very different directions when it comes to their beverage of choice, according to JL Partners/DailyMail.com.
And it may not be what you think.
Voters who say their favorite drink is rosé wine are overwhelmingly supporters of Trump, a candidate whose rallies are often filled with the kind of bikers and burly farmers you’d think would look askance at a pink drink.
JL Partners surveyed 1,000 likely voters about their opinion of the two presidential candidates. And the results showed how Harris supporters like gin, while Trump supporters like rosé wine.
It’s not even close. While 33 percent of rosé drinkers say they will vote for Harris, a whopping 55 percent plan to vote for Trump.
Drinkers of darker spirits (rum and whiskey) are also betting decisively on the Republican candidate.
Beer drinkers are divided almost in half.
But voters who choose red wine first are more likely to be Harris supporters.
And the gap between the two groups of voters grows deeper as the drinks become lighter in color.
So vodka and white wine are the overwhelming choice for people who say they plan to vote for Harris. (The vice president herself has been seen in Washington drinking a glass of white wine with ice.)
But it is the gin drinkers who emerge in single ladies’ territory, with the most decisive support for Harris.
With 65 percent saying they will vote for Harris, compared to 33 percent saying they will vote for the former president, a drink once known as “mother’s ruin” could be nicknamed “mother’s ruin.” Trump.”
Generally, Trump supporters prefer darker drinks; Harris supporters like the lighter ones
The race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump promises to be extremely close
The results come from a national online survey of 1,000 likely voters conducted Sept. 13-15.
“Trump voters might be known for a tough stance on the border, a tough approach on crime, and a rock-solid belief in traditional values. But they love a little rosé,” said James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners.
‘Our poll exposes the private preferences of 2024 voters. If only rosé drinkers could vote, Trump would win the biggest victory since Nixon.
“But if only those who like white wine (or a gin) could vote, then Harris would turn the country almost entirely blue.”
“Perhaps what this tells us most about politics today is that behind every voter stereotype there is a surprise.”
Results from a parallel poll, which included phone calls and in-app questions, found that Harris had surpassed Trump in the overall rankings for the first time.
Harris is the choice of 43 percent of voters (two points more than the last poll on August 13), while Trump is favored by 42 percent, two points less.
