A recent photo of superstar Sam Kerr has fueled speculation that the Matildas striker may have already secretly married his fiancée Kristie Mewis.
The Chelsea star, who has kept a relatively low profile since being accused of alleged racial abuse against a police officer, took to Instagram on Sunday to show her support for American women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark.
Kerr posted a series of photos of herself wearing Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes jersey, and in one photo she showed off a shiny new piece of jewelry on her left ring finger.
The Australian announced her engagement to her long-term girlfriend, Kristie Mewis, last November, and has since been spotted several times wearing a simple gold band on her ring finger.
However, the new ring features diamonds on the gold band, opening the door to speculation that the couple has tied the knot.
Same Kerr posted a message of support for American women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark, but also showed off a new piece of jewelry on her left ring finger.

It has been a difficult year for Kerr, who suffered a feared anterior cruciate knee ligament injury while on a training camp with Chelsea in January.
The shocking setback appears to prevent him from fulfilling his dream of playing for Australia at the Paris Olympics.
Last month, Australia’s highest-profile footballer was charged for allegedly racially harassing a police officer during a night out in London.
The incident took place a day after Kerr scored a hat-trick in Chelsea’s FA Cup victory against Liverpool in January 2023 and he will face a criminal trial before a jury in February next year.
This was followed by the revelation that the Chelsea star did not inform the Matildas or Football Australia of the allegation, with the CEO of the code’s governing body in Australia and national coach Tony Gustavsson explaining that they only found out when the exclusive The Mail report was published.
Both Mewis and Kerr have remained silent since the news broke on March 5, refusing to make any official comments on their social media.
The soccer power couple met while both playing for competing clubs in the American league in 2019.
They spoke online for almost four months during the 2020 Covid lockdown before spending two weeks together in quarantine, where they quickly fell in love.
The Matildas star announced her engagement to Mewis (pictured together) in November 2023.
The couple has kept a low profile since Kerr was accused of racially harassing a police officer.
Kerr posted a photo six weeks ago with teammate Mackenzie Arnold in which she was not wearing a ring on her left hand (pictured).
The couple continued their romance in the run-up to the 2021 Olympics, where, following the United States’ defeat of Australia in the semi-finals, they were photographed together.
Their embrace on the field made headlines as Kerr’s breakup with her former long-term partner, another American club player, Nikki Stanton, had not yet been made public.
Since then, their international romance has been widely documented on social media and both women have amassed hundreds of thousands of followers.
