He was taken in critical condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died.
The police have asked everyone in the MacGregor area, especially on the Delfin street that is bordered by Mains Road and Granadilla Street, to take CCTV or dashcam recordings.
The shooter remains free and it is believed that the couple did not know each other.
The police suspect that only one person was involved, but says it could be more.
They cannot tell what type of gun was used or in what range the shooter fired.
The victim worked as a doctor in the Chinese community of Brisbane on the south side of the city.
His wife is a doctor trained abroad and their two adult children are also studying to become doctors.
"These are professional members of the community, they spend their time helping people, this is just a tragic event that has occurred," said Acting Detective McCartney.
& # 39; This is something that community members should be concerned about, but rest assured that QPS spends a lot of resources determining who is responsible. & # 39;

& # 39; Normally you would think that MacGregor is a pretty safe place. They are pretty nice people. I don't know what the hell happened, & he said.
