DMX has “failed to regain brain function” for nearly a week after his alleged overdose and heart attack.
The rapper’s condition is said to have shown no improvement after a series of tests conducted on Wednesday, leaving his family with the painful decision to keep the 50-year-old entertainer alive.
TMZ reports that the tests showed there was “no improvement in brain activity” since he was first rushed to the hospital last Friday, after being without oxygen for nearly half an hour.

The test results have been described as ‘not good’ in Thursday’s report, and that his family has requested that longtime friend and former manager Steve Rifkind fly to New York on Friday to be by his side.

The outlet explained that the tests will “ dictate further decisions to be made by DMX’s family, ” with the rapper currently in a coma and living in a New York hospital.

TMZ reported on Monday that some of DMX’s 15 kids are visiting him in the hospital for what is considered “ a final goodbye. ”
Later that same day, a prayer vigil was held by family, friends and fans outside the hospital where DMX continues to receive care in White Plains, New York.
The rapper’s condition remains critical and ‘dire’, according to TMZ. This prompted an undetermined number of DMX kids to go to White Plains to say goodbye.
The outlet added that COVID-19 safety restrictions complicate matters with sources saying that only one person should be allowed to visit DMX at a time.
DMX lives on for several days after an alleged overdose and then a heart attack.

“ On Friday evening April 2, 2021, our brother, son, father and colleague DMX, Earl Simmons’ birth name, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital with serious health problems, ” the family said through a publicist. “We ask that you keep Earl / DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes and prayers and respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”
Another statement released Sunday afternoon said the rapper remained in a coma and was on a ventilator.
Simmons’ longtime attorney, Murray Richman, said the rapper was admitted to the intensive care unit at White Plains Hospital after a cardiac arrest.
Richman said he could not confirm reports that DMX had overdosed on drugs and was unsure of what caused the heart attack.

Doctors at White Plains Hospital in New York have said the rapper’s prognosis is poor, while family members have said his life is on the line.
DMX was said to be off life support earlier on Saturday, but his attorney later said the news was an “ incorrect statement. ”
Sources told TMZ that the star overdosed around 11 p.m. on Friday and was rushed to hospital where he is in critical care.
A family member explained that paramedics tried to resuscitate him for 30 minutes when he was taken to the hospital on Friday evening, during which time he had been dehydrated for extended periods of time.
