A British man has been arrested after armed police raided his home in Costa and found almost 10,000 pounds of cannabis resin in one of the biggest drug busts ever carried out in Andalusia.

The raid took place in La Línea in Andalusia, near Spain’s border with Gibraltar, famous for being a gateway for drugs to Europe.

Footage released by police today shows a team of armed officers marching towards the house along the wall before slowly ascending the stairs.

Inside the building detectives could be seen counting a wad of 50 euro notes and opening a door to a room where most of the cannabis resin is believed to have been stored.

The large packages containing cannabis appeared to have the names of their recipients. On one was scrawled the name “Ralph” and on others “Coly.”

Police have released little information about the three detainees, but confirmed that one is British and described him as the owner of the villa where the drugs were found.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard in the port city of Algeciras, near La Línea, confirmed: ‘The Civil Guard has found and dismantled a drug “daycare” in La Línea with more than 9,920 pounds of cannabis resin.

‘It is one of the largest drug seizures ever discovered in a “daycare center” in recent years in the Andalusia region.

‘The operation has culminated in the arrest of three people, one of them British who owns the property, and the seizure of two vehicles, including a stolen vehicle.

‘Police carried out the raid after learning of a drug dump on the coast of La Línea.

The officers carefully climbed the steps of the raid. A spokesperson for the Civil Guard stated:

It was not immediately clear today whether the Briton and the other suspects, whose nationalities have not been revealed, have yet appeared before a judge and whether they are being held in custody pending an ongoing investigation.

Drug traffickers use vessels, including high-powered speed boats, to smuggle primarily hashish into Spain from Morocco via La Línea.

It is a popular delivery point due to its proximity to the African continent.
