A young mother stabbed to death while shopping with her nine-month-old baby has posted a heartbreaking photo of the two hours before the horrific attack.
Ash Good, 38, was among six innocent shoppers in Sydney’s Bondi Junction Westfield who were randomly murdered on Saturday, when a man, 40, wearing a Kangaroos rugby league shirt, stabbed approximately 3:20 pm before being shot. He murdered by a policewoman.
A total of nine people, including Good’s baby, suffered knife wounds.
The baby is now fighting for his life after being admitted to hospital for emergency surgery.
Just hours before the horror unfolded, Good posted a photo on Instagram holding her baby.
“Only because I was walking by and happened to be wearing the same thing 9 months ago vs 9 months later, etc., etc.,” the caption read.
She also posted a short video of her daughter sitting in a car seat with the Tempations song My Girl overlaid on it.
Heartbreaking details have emerged about what happened when Ms Good and her baby were attacked here.
Shortly before 5pm, a witness interrupted a Nine News reporter’s live crossing from the scene and pointed at his brother, saying: “He’s a hero, he saved the baby.”
The clearly shaken hero said he used clothes from a store to try to stop the baby’s bleeding.
“The baby was stabbed and, yes, the mother was stabbed,” he said.
“The mother came up with the baby and threw it at me.
“I just helped by holding the baby… and trying to compress him.”
The two brothers used clothes and T-shirts from a store to try to stop the baby’s bleeding and stayed with the mother while they waited for emergency services.
“(It was) very bad… a lot of blood on the floor… I hope the baby is okay,” the other brother said.
The victims of the attack were left lying in the shopping center as police worked to stop the attack.
Police are attending the scene in large numbers and the Australian Federal Police is now in contact with the New South Wales Police in case a joint counter-terrorism team is required.
The injured mother had blood coming out of her mouth, he said.
Another witness, a mall worker, recalled seeing a mother screaming on the upper level.
“I see a mother and maybe her partner with a baby in a pram,” he told Nine News.
‘She is screaming very, very loud. She runs from one place to another without knowing what to do.
“Then she goes back to the stroller and picks up her baby and there is blood all over her back.
‘The scream was unforgettable, it was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life.
‘My co-worker took me, we closed all the doors, we had to turn off all the lights and doors.’
