Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, 28, also urged fans to join him in prayer in a message shared on social media.

“Please join me in praying for all the victims of this heinous act,” the Chiefs player posted.

‘Pray for the doctors and first responders to have steady hands and for everyone to experience complete healing.’

The Chiefs have yet to confirm if any team members or their family members were injured, but team buses left the scene about a half-hour after the incident to return to Arrowhead Stadium.

The live broadcast on KSHB 41 showed crowds outside Union Station, where the parade ended, quickly dispersing, jumping over some barriers to make a hasty escape.

The announcers said members of the crowd told them to get down and people ran inside.

They added that team members had said they heard several loud noises before fans began fleeing the scene near the World War I museum and memorial.

Moments earlier, stars Mahomes and Kelce had been enjoying their back-to-back Super Bowl triumph, hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy in front of their adoring fans for the third time in five years.

But scenes of celebration quickly turned into scenes of chaos and anguish.
