Disney+ is about to tackle freeloaders head-on.

The multinational corporation is set to implement the final phase of its password-sharing measures that will affect thousands of Australians of dubious reputation.

“We started our password sharing initiative in June. It will go into effect, in earnest, in September,” CEO Bob Iger said at a recent meeting.

The new initiative will prevent subscribers from sharing their password with friends and family, which will prevent them from accessing thousands of movies and TV shows on the service for free.

Some of the most popular shows on the streaming service include Marvel superhero movies, the Star Wars franchise, and the iconic series The Simpsons.

The company will track users’ IP addresses to ensure that its service is not used in unauthorized locations.

Mr. Iger added that the proposed plan had been received positively by most subscribers and that the company was confident it was making the right decision.

“We haven’t had any negative reaction to the notifications we’ve sent out or the work we’ve already been doing,” he said.

“We started our password sharing initiative in June. It will go into effect, in earnest, in September,” CEO Bob Iger said at a recent meeting.

This bold move follows in the footsteps of several other streaming giants, including Netflix, which have implemented security measures to prevent password sharing.

The fight against password sharing has worked for Netflix, with soaring profits and record subscriber numbers.

Meanwhile, Disney+ also unveiled an upcoming feature called ‘Additional Members’ that will see users pay an additional fee for ‘freeloaders’ who use their account in another household.

It’s unclear exactly when the Extra Member will be available.

MailOnline has contacted the streaming giant for further information.
