Disney’s revamped bakery opens with ‘obscene’ new prices and fans aren’t happy.
The Cake Bake Shop at the famous BoardWalk in Disney World, Florida, will open in the fall, but Disney fans were surprised by the menu prices.
“These prices are obscene,” one visitor said of the new menu on Reddit.
The menu, posted outside the gleaming white and gold bakery, shows prices starting at $22 per slice of pie, and that’s before tax and tip. Some are even more expensive.
The Cake Bake restaurant closed in 2020 during the pandemic and will reopen soon as Gwendolyn Rogers’ The Cake Bake Restaurant.

The restaurant’s cake offerings will include Gwendolyn’s famous Earl’s Court chocolate cake, $26 a slice; Oprah’s ‘O’ List Mint Chocolate Cake, $24 a slice; and Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Roll Cake for $22 a slice.
‘That’s the price of an entire cake at Amorettes at Disney Springs!’ said another Reddit user about the high portion prices.
“Eight dollars for a coke is shockingly offensive even for Disney World…” a third agreed.
The new business will also offer a tasty selection of cakes, French pastries, homemade fudge, chocolate truffles and cookies.
For older visitors there will also be a varied selection of champagne, wines and beers.
Gavin Doyle, creator of the Mickey visits Disney World crowd schedule told DailyMail.com that the Cake Bake menu is exciting fans because its prices are significantly higher than the chain’s other locations in Broad Ripple Village and Carmel in Indiana, as well as other restaurants serving comparable food in the park. .
“There are many food and beverage locations where you can find lower-cost but high-quality offerings, including restaurants right next to this location at Disney’s BoardWalk,” Doyle said.
He also explained that the restaurant has been “coming soon” for years, which has generated a lot of expectation and speculation among visitors.
“The anticipation around the location puts a spotlight on the new restaurant and menu, as many people stopped by and wondered what the new location will include.”
Many Disney fans on Reddit predicted that the restaurant won’t stay open for more than two years if prices remain this high.
“I have a feeling this place will be closed in about 2 years, especially once the novelty (if there is any) wears off,” one wrote on the site.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what this place will occupy after it inevitably closes in 2026,” another agreed.
An exact date for Cake Bake’s opening has not yet been publicly announced.

The establishment has already received criticism for the “obscene” prices of the menu before its opening.

The brand’s luxurious cakes come with a high price tag.
Last week, Disneyland ticket prices increased. Single-day tickets cost 6 percent more and annual passes, known as Magic Keys, are increasing by up to 20 percent.
For the first time, this means that admission to the Happiest Place on Earth, as the theme park in Anaheim, California is known, now costs more than $200 per person on busiest days.
The increases for Disneyland come after sister theme park Disney World in Orlando, Florida, already announced increases for 2025.
Disney recently launched some deals for theme park packages at Florida’s Disney World, but faced backlash from customers who said it was “It’s still 35 percent too expensive.”

Earlier this summer, Disney also revealed a controversial overhaul of its queuing program for theme park attractions.
