A helpless autistic teenager was beaten by a gang of thugs in a sickening incident captured on video.
Dakota, 14, was walking along Altona Pier in Melbourne with her friend when five older teenagers attacked her on Wednesday afternoon.
The Year 9 student was punched more than 50 times and dragged by her hair while one of the cruel bullies poured an energy drink over her head.
Dakota suffered serious injuries, including two black eyes, and spent the night in the hospital.
Footage of the attack was posted online before being sent to Dakota’s sister.
Dakota, 14, from Melbourne’s west, was walking along Melbourne’s Altona Pier with her friend when five older teenagers attacked her on Wednesday afternoon.
“The paramedic counted how many times my daughter received this blow to the head and it was more than 55,” said Dakota’s mother, who did not want to be identified. 9News.
‘They thought it was funny. They could have killed her.
It is possible that the attack would have continued, if not for the intervention of a nearby man.

Dakota’s mother said her shy daughter had just begun to come out of her shell.
But now he is too afraid to leave the house without his mother.
‘Seeing your daughter go through that and just being helpless. “My daughter doesn’t even want to go back to school now, so there’s her education,” she said.
Police told Daily Mail Australia the victim knows the attackers, but no arrests have yet been made.
