Disgusting images show inside filthy Chinese takeaway including grimy sinks and food left scattered in the fridge-freezers – as council inspectors slap restaurant with one-star for hygiene

This Yorkshire takeaway isn’t celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Dragon in style after being awarded one star for its food hygiene standards.

Shocking images have revealed the disgusting state of the Woo-Kee Chop Suey Bar in Leeds, with a messy kitchen, dirty sinks and food open and strewn in the fridges and freezers.

Inspectors from Leeds City Council visited the takeaway restaurant on Station Road, Cross Gates, on July 3, on behalf of the Food Standards Agency.

A one-star hygiene rating generally means that “major improvement is necessary.”

Footage revealing the state of the Chinese takeaway was shared with Leeds Live via a FOI (Freedom of Information) request.

Inspectors stated that food safety management needed “significant improvements” and that the “cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings” also needed to be improved.

While hygienic food handling was considered “generally satisfactory.”

Woo-Kee Chop Suey Bar has been contacted for comment.
