Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein will be stripped of his CBE this week following his conviction for rape by the government.

Weinstein, 68, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison by a US court earlier this year, is expected to lose the CBE when the Honors Forfeiture Committee meets on Friday to discuss the recipients who have discredited the system.

The move follows a campaign by playwright Polly Creed for Britain to follow the lead of France, where President Emmanuel Macron launched the Weinstein’s Legion d’Honneur removal process within days of the 2017 allegations.

A string of actresses made claims against Weinstein, including Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Léa Seydoux.

More than 80 women signed up – and many said they were blacklisted from lucrative projects if they rejected his claims.

Weinstein received the honorary CBE in 2004 for services to the British film industry.

Those who have lost honor include Russian spy Anthony Blunt and Fred Goodwin, who sent the Royal Bank of Scotland to an annual loss of £ 24.1 billion.
