Southwark Crown Court later heard how the MP forced the then-teenager to drink gin and tonic and asked him to watch pornography before the attack at a Staffordshire house after a party in January 2008.
The judge said Khan had displayed a “significant degree of brutality” in the lead up to the assault when he dragged his victim upstairs and threw him on a bed.
The victim, who cannot be identified, told the court she felt “scared, vulnerable, numb, shocked and shocked” after Khan, then 34, touched her feet and legs, coming “wide of a hair” of her private parts, as she moved forward. sleep on a top bunk.
The court heard that the victim was “inconsolable” when she ran to her parents after the attack. A police report was made at that time, but no further action was taken as the boy did not want to file a formal complaint.
However, he told jurors that “everything came back with a bang” when he learned that Khan would be running in the general election.
Khan, who is gay and Muslim, claimed he only touched the Catholic teen’s elbow when he “got really upset” after a conversation about his confusing sexuality. The politician said he was trying to be ‘nice’ and ‘subservient’, but the boy became upset and ‘ran away’ when the subject of pornography was raised.
Khan was found guilty of a single count of sexual assault after about five hours of jury deliberations.
Passing sentence in May, Judge Baker said: “The only regret you feel is towards yourself for having found yourself in the situation you are facing as a result of your actions some 14 years ago.”
While you may have let yourself believe over the years that you got away with committing this crime, I’m sure you knew all along that there was a risk that doomsday would come.
