Dirt bike racer posts shocking photos after horrific crash that left her with no feeling in her legs

Gold Coast motocross racer turned fashion brand owner Taylor Peet has posted shocking photos following the accident that left her paralysed from the chest down.

Peet, owner of clothing brand Throttle Girls and founder of motorcycle group Girls Can Ride, was riding in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane when she fell off her bike while landing a jump on June 29.

She suffered fractured ribs, a punctured right lung, wrist fractures and severe spinal cord damage, leaving her without feeling from the torso down.

Peet was airlifted to a hospital in Brisbane and later underwent spinal surgery.

“We went out to do some ramps to practice my jumps as this has been a big focus and goal for me this year,” she posted on Instagram.

‘Shortly after the morning, I was riding and doing the jump. Little did I know that the next one would be the one that would change my life.

‘I was thrown out of control by the way I landed on the downhill ramp and the rest is now my reality.’

Peet went on to describe his injuries and the shock of waking up in the hospital with breathing tubes in his throat.

“This past week has been the most physically and mentally challenging time of my life, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from being here, it’s to never doubt why you ride,” he wrote.

‘Accidents can be scary, but the lifestyle and love of the sport are the reason we do it.

“I’ve created the best lifestyle and memories on two wheels, more so than off the bike. Lastly, a great reminder that life throws challenges at those who can handle them.”

Peet thanked everyone who was by his side, including doctors, nurses and rescue crew.

“I didn’t really realize how big the community supporting me was until now,” she wrote.

She was airlifted to hospital after the accident.

Pete said the support he has received has been incredible, with a GoFundMe set up to help pay for his treatment raising a huge amount.
