Home and Away fans around the world mourn the loss of actor Dieter Brummer, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 45.
Many women from the UK, Ireland and Australia mourn their ‘first crush’, as Brummer was heartened in the 1990s thanks to his portrayal of Shane Parrish.
“So many 90s hearts are breaking tonight,” one person tweeted Monday.
Others shared memories of having pictures of Brummer on their desks and pencil cases, or having his poster on their bedroom walls.

“I send my love and thoughts to all of you. I was convinced that one day Dieter would become my husband when I was 13. I shot all his scenes and got an autograph when he was in the UK. I’m 41 so upset to hear this,” one fan tweeted, alongside a photo of their VHS recordings of Home and Away episodes.
‘I think Dieter Brummer was one of my first crushes. Only 45. This is so sad,” another wrote in response to the news of the actor’s death.
“RIP Dieter Brummer – one of my very first crushes, I was a rabid H&A fan when I was 12,” recalled one loyal viewer.
‘It was with sadness that I heard about Dieter Brummer tonight. My first crush when I was 10. Depression doesn’t discriminate, it’s so important to reach out to someone – anyone – if they are struggling with mental health,” another added.

His death is not treated as suspicious and is suspected of suicide.
“About 1:30 p.m. (Saturday, July 24, 2021) officers from The Hills Police Area Command were responding to reports of concerns about the welfare of a home on Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven,” a police spokesman said.
“A man’s body was found in the house. His death is not considered suspicious. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.’

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph in November, Brummer started a window cleaning business after turning his back on acting.
‘People say I’m just a window cleaner, in reality it’s much more than that. Working at heights is a relatively specialist profession,” he told TV Tonight in April 2010.
Brummer said he could use his rock climbing skills in his new profession, and was grateful for the “life experience” it had given him.
“I just wanted to get some life experience, but I always intended to return to acting someday,” he added.
Brummer, who turned 45 in May, was notably involved in a Home and Away storyline with co-star Melissa George, who played his on-screen wife Angel Brooks.
