Didier Deschamps will remain France’s coach until the 2026 World Cup, the president of the French Football Federation has revealed.

France were beaten 2-1 by La Roja on Tuesday night with goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo condemning them to their fate after Randal Kolo Muani had opened the scoring.

Despite reaching the quarter-finals, France’s elimination capped what had been a disappointing tournament, with Les Bleus scoring just one goal from open play and putting in several uninspiring performances.

However, French Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo said there was “no reason” to question Deschamps’ future.

“The past results speak in his favour and the objectives have been achieved. Didier will continue his mission,” he said. The team.

‘We’ll be talking to each other over the next few days to analyse in more depth what we lacked in this semi-final and what would have allowed us to go further.

“During this month, I have seen a lot of professionalism and a pursuit of excellence. We need to continue to push the French team in this direction.”

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after Les Bleus lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euro 2019 semi-final.

Following their narrow defeat on Tuesday, L’Equipe was one of many French outlets to criticise Didier Deschamps’ side, giving them several terrible ratings.

Their cover was equally critical, sharing a photo of Mbappé looking sad without his mask on with the caption ‘DEMASQUES’, which translates to ‘without mask’.

Meanwhile, Le Figaro wrote: ‘Mbappé (again) fails, Dembélé too, Rabiot all soft’, with the paper giving the Les Bleus captain a 2/10 rating.

Other outlets also questioned whether Euro 2024 was a “failed competition for the French team”, while Le Monde claimed Deschamps’ side were “outclassed” by Spain, leading to a “bitter end to the Euros”.

L’Humanité continued with the theme of France’s problems against Luis de la Fuente’s team by saying: “La Roja pushes Les Bleus in the semi-final.”

Le Parisien claimed that Les Blues “hit their glass ceiling” against Spain, which ultimately led to their elimination.

Meanwhile, in terms of L’Equipe’s brutal ratings, star man Mbappe failed to impress again despite assisting Kolo Muani’s goal and the Real Madrid star was given a 3/10 rating, with the French outlet claiming he was “too often powerless (and) wasted good shots.”

It wasn’t much better for Mbappe’s strike partners, with Ousmane Dembele also given a 3/10 after ‘too many inaccuracies’, while Kolo Muani was given just 4/10 despite his goal, with L’Equipe saying he ‘never managed to exist’ after putting France ahead.

The overall average rating for France was 3.6/10, a sad indication of their performance and output.

Mike Maignan and Dayot Upamecano each scored 4/10, while Jules Kounde got 5/10 despite deflecting Olmo’s decisive shot into his own net.
