View fans are speculating that Joy Behar accidentally let it slip that Whoopi Goldberg had been cast in the next Star Trek movie after a rather awkward moment on Thursday’s show.
Joy’s apparent misstep occurred during an interview with Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana, 45, who was questioned by host Alyssa Farah Griffin, 34, about rumors about the upcoming film and whether she will be involved or No.
“Maybe, maybe,” he replied as he looked at a smiling Whoopi.
Zoe added “just a little bit,” to which Whoopi, 68, repeated: “Just a little bit.”
Joy Behar seemed to make a rather awkward mistake on Thursday’s The View when viewers believed she ‘jumped’ about Whoopi Goldberg’s next potential career move.

The moment occurred during an interview with Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana and her husband, Marco Perego.
Whoopi played the role of Guinan in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1988 to 1993.
Joy, 81, quickly turned to Whoopi and warned her, “Don’t shake her hand yet.”
Looking somewhat confused, the Oscar winner asked: ‘What now?’
Joy replied: ‘Don’t shake their hand yet, don’t tell them you still got the job… Did you get the job?’
Whoopi’s jaw dropped when Zoe asked, ‘For Star Trek?’ Oh Lord!’
The bewildered Sister Act star shouted: ‘What’s happening now? I don’t have another job, I’m trying to return to Sardinia.
‘Do you have it or not?’ asked co-host Sara Haines, to which Whoopi responded, “I don’t know!”
Eager for a concrete answer, Alyssa, 34, added: “Zoe, is there anything you can share about this?”
“No, I just found out simultaneously with you that you hired a new writer and are working on a fourth script,” Zoe responded.
‘I would love to return. It was a wonderful experience to embody these characters as part of such a legendary show that touched people’s lives and continues to do so. I love being in space guys! I love Earth, but I love being in space!’
DailyMail.com has contacted representatives from Whoopi and Paramount, the studio behind Star Trek.
Unsurprisingly, the awkward moment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, with one posting on X: ‘So Joy rushed? Whoopi wasn’t ready to make that announcement about Star Trek. Ha ha ha.’
Whoopi seemed bewildered when Joy asked her directly if she “got the job.”
At one point, Sara (center) jokingly shouted, ‘Do you have it or don’t you?’
Zoe played the role of Nyota Uhura in the 2013 film Star Trek Into Darkness and 2016’s Star Trek Beyond.
Viewers tuning in at home caught Joy’s comment and took to X to share their thoughts.
One person questioned whether comedian Joy had been “jumping” with her comment.
Another viewer suspected that Joy had accidentally let it slip that Whoopi would be participating.
“Had to rewind that part of Star Trek to make sure I didn’t miss the clues #TheView,” another admitted.
A third person said: ‘Zoë Saldaña talks about potential Star Trek 4 on #TheView! Did Joy let it slip that Whoopi is coming back to Star Trek again?
And a fourth viewer joked: “Whoopi is going to slap Joy during the commercial break lol.”
Mother-of-one Whoopi played Guinann in 28 episodes of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation between 1988 and 1993, alongside the likes of Sir Patrick Stewart, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn and Jonathan Frakes.
Zoe played the role of Nyota Uhura in the 2013 film Star Trek Into Darkness and in 2016’s Star Trek Beyond.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that a much-talked-about fourth film could still be filmed, as Steve Yockey has reportedly signed on as the new screenwriter.
The Star Trek Beyond sequel has been plagued by a series of setbacks in recent years, including the departure of director Matt Shakman in August 2022.
The filmmaker signed on to direct Fantastic Four for Marvel, prompting Paramount to remove the film from its release schedule the following month.
