Diane Warren Reveals Cher HATES If I Could Turn Back Time And Simon Cowell Rejected I Was Here Song

Songwriter Diane Warren revealed in Lorraine on Tuesday that Cher hated her iconic song, If I Could Turn Back Time, while Simon Cowell rejected the song, I Was Here, for Susan Boyle, which was famously sung by Beyoncé.

The award-winning musician, 64, appeared on the daytime show to discuss the tricks of the trade and the hit records she has written for the world’s biggest stars.

“Yeah, Cher hated it,” Diane said while talking about If I Could Turn Back Time, which she wrote exclusively for the star 75. “I actually had to hold her leg in the studio lounge and say, get off your leg until you at least try this song.”

She said, ‘It’s a song I wrote called I Was Here. I sent it to Simon [Cowell], I also called Jay-Z to play it for him, for Beyoncé. He loved it, I was in the studio with her, [it was] brilliant, exciting, and I just hear her.

‘I had an email from someone in Simon’s camp’ [saying]”Simon sent me this song to review. It’s not quite going for us, but keep sending more songs,” or whatever.

‘And I’m like’ [motions texting]”Hmm, well I was in the studio last night with the world’s biggest artist and, oddly enough, it was all for her.”
