The investigation relates to the company’s supply of alcohol to government-run stores and how those agencies occasionally offered advance payments to suppliers who provided discounts.
Police are investigating whether there was any irregularity in this process.
Hina Nagarajan, director of United Spirits, was summoned to appear before police last month as part of the investigation.
Although it did not attend, the liquor giant produced documents that authorities were seeking. Diageo, which makes Baileys and Smirnoff, owns 56% of United Spirits, also known as Diageo India.
He also owns the Indian Premier League cricket team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Diageo confirmed it had received the notice from Delhi Police and said it would cooperate fully and was “in the process of providing the information”.
