Diablo 4 announces an important milestone for the release.
Diablo 4 has gone gold! This was announced by an official tweet from the developers on April 17th. What exactly does gold status mean and what does that mean for the upcoming release? We tell you how close the arrival of Lilith and her hordes is.
What does gold status mean for Diablo 4?
For video games, Gold status means the game is now ready to be pressed onto physical media and shipped to retailers. So Diablo 4 is completely playable from start to finish and runs (hopefully!) without any major bugs. In the coming weeks it will end up in the warehouses of MediaMarkt and Co.
However, the game is definitely still being worked on, day-one patches are now an integral part of almost every release. And even after the official launch, updates will address technical issues or deliver new content.
And yes, it has happened that a game with gold status was postponed at the last minute – for example in Cyberpunk 2077. However, we currently see no signs of this with Diablo 4.
When will Diablo 4 start?
The final release of Diablo 4 is scheduled for June 6, 2023. With the announcement of the gold status, the developers are explicitly confirming this again:

For pre-orders, however, it starts earlier: If you buy Diablo 4 before the start and choose at least the Digital Deluxe Edition, you can fight Lilith up to 4 days beforehand, in our time zone from June 2nd at 01:00 at night. You can find all information about this in our large overview.
If you’ve already played the beta, be prepared for some important changes when the full version launches. As expected, the developers have tightened the balance, for example (good news for druid fans!)
Trivia time! Gold status is not only for digital games, this term is also used in the music and film industry, for example.
Are you already in the mood for the upcoming release of Diablo 4? Are you pre-ordering the action RPG to get started a few days early, or are you patiently waiting for the official launch?
