Dex Carvey dead at 32: Wayne’s World star Dana Carvey and wife Paula say their son ‘died of an accidental drug overdose’ … and they ‘will miss him forever’

Dana Carvey said Thursday that her son, comedian Dex Carvey, died at the age of 32 from an accidental drug overdose.

“Last night we experienced a terrible tragedy,” the SNL alum, 68, and his wife Paula said in a statement on Instagram. “Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old.

“Dex has accumulated a lot over these 32 years. He was extremely talented in many fields – music, art, film, acting – and he pursued them all with passion.

The couple continued: Dex “most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.

“Dex was a beautiful person. Her handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.

The statement concluded: “To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

Dex died Wednesday evening at his home in Los Angeles, while his girlfriend called emergency services around 10 p.m., police sources said. TMZ THURSDAY.

Dex “was locked in a bathroom,” law enforcement told the outlet, and “was unresponsive when discovered.”

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that paramedics attempted to resuscitate Dex, who was later “pronounced dead at the scene.”

An autopsy on Dex was performed, but authorities have not determined his cause of death as they await the results of toxicology tests.
